About Us
We are a community of end-of-life doulas. Here, we highlight our mission to compassionately support individuals and families through the profound journey of dying and grief, ensuring dignity, respect, and holistic care.

Statement of Intention
We, the members of the Virginia End-of-Life Doula Collective, are united by a shared commitment to compassionate, holistic, and person-centered support for individuals and their loved ones at the end of life. Our collective aims to serve as a resource for individuals seeking end of life support, as well as providing a community for our doulas. We are also committed to advocating for greater awareness, understanding, and acceptance of death as a natural part of life.
Our intentions are as follows:
-
To Provide Compassionate Support
We aim to honor each individual’s unique journey, offering non-judgmental, empathetic, and culturally sensitive care to those nearing the end of life, as well as their loved ones. -
To Empower Through Education
We strive to empower individuals and families by providing information, guidance, and tools that help them make informed decisions about end-of-life care, and facilitating conversations that honor their wishes and needs. -
To Foster Community and Connection
Our collective is dedicated to building a supportive network of doulas who can collaborate to ensure a peaceful, dignified end-of-life experience for all. -
To Promote Death Literacy and Advocacy
We are committed to increasing public awareness of end-of-life care options, reducing the stigma surrounding death and dying, and advocating for policies that enhance access to compassionate, patient-centered end-of-life care. -
To Support Each Other as Practitioners
As a collective, we pledge to support one another through shared resources, mentorship, ongoing professional development, and open dialogue about the challenges and rewards of this deeply important work.
By standing together as a collective, we affirm our commitment to walking alongside those at the end of life, honoring their choices, and creating a culture of care that is rooted in compassion, respect, and dignity.
